2007/01/06 Aftenbladet: Acrobats, cheerleaders and a dose of rock

Low budget doesn't necessarily mean low quality. When Skambankt shoot a music video, it's just about getting people to help out.

They borrow a bit here and a bit there. Some cheerleaders from the Oilers, good light- and sound engineers they know. Two days of intensive work produce a music video that will hopefully be running on the TV channels well ahead of the record release.

Skambankt from Klepp are busy with the successor album of the self-titled debut from 2004. It will be in stores January 29, if everything goes as planned. We get a foretaste before that. It is called "Dynasti", and Skambankt record the video in a cold, crude and grey room in the eastern district of Stavanger.

In the old factory hall, various stands, racks, cables and instruments are scattered across the concrete floor. Surrounded by bright lights, Terje Vinterstø is standing and beating down on his guitar. Kicking in the plain air, singing and posing. The music comes from a strong PA, to give the right concert feeling.

Bass player Tollak Friestad watches from the sideline. His face is neatly powdered, the eyes lined with black kohl. Soon it will be his turn to let his instrument bolt in front of the cameras.

- It is incredibly hard to play without sound. It seems pretty unnatural, and guitar players often break strings. All movements get bigger and stronger, Friestad says.

The band is used to the routines. This is the fourth music video they shoot.

- Yes, we already recorded three videos. And two of them have been shown on TV, Friestad grins.
